Jalapeño Cheese Cream of Wheat Bread

April 9, 2018 By: sisterdiy

I love the combination of jalapeños and cheese. One of my first recipes I tried when I got my own place was these little fried wontons with a filling of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and jalapeños from Emril. Those were the days when my TV lived on the food network and I could barely cook a dish with more than 3 ingredients. Anywho, at the time, those were the best things I had made and I knew that Jalapeño and Cheese would be a  frequent pair in my kitchen. Fast forward 10 years later and Jalapeño Cheese Cream of Wheat bread is born.

How To Make Cream Of Wheat Bread

This recipe is so easy, bakes fast and is delicious! It’s starts with my basic cream of wheat bread recipe.

Next comes our star ingredients. I have used white cheddar and yellow and you could pretty much use any cheese you like. I like to add somewhere between a 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup. For the jalapeños, that is going to depend on you. I decided to use the jarred jalapeños because I really only want the flavor of the peppers, but not the bite. I also didn’t have any fresh ones on hand and like to keep a jar around for nachos and things. I ended up cutting up about 10-12 slices. The amount you use may also depend on if yours are hot, medium or mild. My children were also eating these and my daughter isn’t a big fan of spicy food. I wanted her to be able to enjoy the flavor so I probably would use more if it were just my husband and I eating them.

Fold in your cheese and jalapeños and smooth the top with your spatula.

Bake in a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until the edges are golden and the top is set.

Cool in the pan on a wire wrack. I like to turn the whole thing out onto a plate, but you can also cut it up in the pan.
