Preheat oven to 350 and melt butter. Set aside to cool a bit.
In a large bowl, add sugar, egg, vanilla and melted butter. Stir with a spoon vigorously until the batter is creamy and lighter in color.
Sift in your dry ingredients and fold in until combined. You can also fold in your add-in at this point if you like.
Pour batter into a prepared 9x9 pan. I am using parchment paper, but you can also butter your pan. Spinkle with your chips and bake for 20 minutes or until cookie is set and edges are lightly golden. Enjoy!
